Founder Sam Washington says he started the foundation after experiencing hard times as a pet owner and the loss of his dog, Kia - who the foundation is named after.

PET U. is a magazine prototype, in both print and digital, that caters to college-student pet owners. Readers can find advice, resources and real student stories about maintaining a hectic college schedule while still caring for your four-legged best friends. Our mission is to increase education and advocate for shelter adoption in order to decrease homeless animal populations.
